Community Baby Shower Postponed

St. Claire HealthCare

In an abundance of caution, St. Claire HealthCare and UK HealthCare have made the decision to postpone the 19th Annual Community Baby Shower previously scheduled for April 4.

“Protecting the health of our community is our top priority as we evaluate the evolving coronavirus situation,” said Will Melahn, MD, St. Claire HealthCare’s VP, Medical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer. “While we believe the risk of contracting the virus in our community at this time is low, we are canceling the Community Baby Shower out of an abundance of caution.”

The Community Baby Shower is an annual event that attracts families from throughout the region. Planning, pregnant, new, and adopting parents receive education on topics related to pregnancy and newborn care, along with resources from dozens of community resources.

“We know people may be disappointed the event is being postponed,” said McKenna Spence, Director of Patient Experience & Clinical Support at St. Claire HealthCare. “But we also recognize the fear and anxiety that many are experiencing regarding the coronavirus and plan to reschedule the event at a later date.”

St. Claire HealthCare encourages everyone to continue taking steps to protect themselves from illness, like the coronavirus or the flu, by avoiding contact with people who are sick and practicing good hand hygiene. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
