Commissioner Says Kentucky School Funding Crisis Looms

Office of the Commissioner of Education

Kentucky’s education commissioner is warning state lawmakers that a perfect storm is forming when it comes to school funding. Terry Holliday says local school districts have done all they can with limited resources over the past few years and now they need more money…

“Significant budget reductions to education since 2008 have made the job of educators in Kentucky extremely difficult. Educators tell me they have done all they can do with ‘Do More With Less’ syndrome.” - Terry Holliday

Holliday says the progress Kentucky has made improving graduation rates and better preparing students for college or careers is jeopardized by the prospect of continued budget cuts.
