Cleanup Continues on KY 801 Landslide

KYTC Highway District 9 Facebook Page

Crews are continuing with the cleanup following a landslide on a section of KY 801 in Rowan County earlier this week.

The landslide occurred Tuesday morning just north of the Billy’s Branch picnic area, leaving both lanes of traffic closed since.  Allen Blair is spokesperson for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s 9th District.  He says drivers will need to continue to avoid the area for at least the remainder of the workweek.

Blair says crews have reported barriers being moved at the site, believing it to be individuals attempting to get a better view of the landslide.  He asks everyone to stay clear of the area until work is complete so that they do not cause a potential safety hazard.
