Chandler Clark Claims Third OVC Setter of the Week Nod

MSU Athletics

For the third time this season, Morehead State volleyball's redshirt sophomore setter Chandler Clark has been named Ohio Valley Conference Setter of the Week. By claiming her third award of the season, she ties sophomore outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier for the most OVC Weekly Award wins this season.

In a pair of matches with in-state rivals Eastern Kentucky and Murray State, Clark dished out a league-leading 97 total assists. With her fourth assist versus Murray State, she surpassed 1,000 assists on the year, becoming the first Morehead State setter to hit the millennium mark since 2013. Clark also passed out 12.12 helpers per set, pacing the conference in the category by 1.45 assists per set.

Clark opened the week, handing out 38 assists at Eastern Kentucky, helping her team to a .278 attack efficiency. Individually, she conducted a pair of teammates to hitting percentages of .300 or better as Lohmeier (.353) and redshirt senior middle blocker Jessie Wachtman (.471) led the way. Clark, herself, hit .333, dumping home a pair of kills. She also added in eight digs as she neared a double-double.

To wrap the week, Clark passed out 59 helpers, falling one assist shy of her career-high, leading the Eagles to a .231 hitting percentage. Again, a pair of Morehead State players hit north of .300 thanks to Clark with senior middle blocker Maddie Fella hitting at a .400 clip and Wachtman adding a .375 efficiency. With three kills, Clark connected at a .375 efficiency to conclude the week hitting .357 while she also added another eight digs, falling just short of another double-double.

On the season, Clark has passed out 1,055 assists on the season, the most since Colbey Cameron dished out 1,188 helpers during the 2013 season. Clark's total ranks 28th in the NCAA while standing as third-best in the OVC. In 99 sets on the season, she's totaled 10.66 assists per set, a mark that ranks second in the league. If her current per set assists total stands, Clark would become the first Morehead State setter to eclipse 10 assists per set since 2012 when Caitlin Clark totaled 10.03 per set.

Clark and the Morehead State Eagles conclude the regular season this weekend, hosting the OVC's Nashville teams for a pair of matches. The Eagles host Tennessee State on Friday (7 p.m. ET) before facing off with Belmont on Saturday (2 p.m.) for Senior Day.
