Caudill looking forward to November general election

The winner of Rowan County's most watched primary is now looking forward to November's general election.

Elwood Caudill will vie with Republican Kim Davis after winning the Democratic nomination for County Clerk on Tuesday. Caudill's main challenger in the primary was David Ermold, a gay man who was denied a marriage license by Davis in 2015. The case, which went to federal court, made national news.

Caudill easily defeated Ermold, even though his opponent had $201,000 in his campaign war chest, much of it from sources outside Kentucky.

Caudill said he pounded the pavement to talk to as many people as possible about his campaign face-to-face. He believes working for the past 21 years in the Rowan County PVA's office created important name recognition which aided in his victory.
