Build Smart Funding For MCTC Rowan Campus

The head of the Rowan Campus of the Maysville Community and Technical College believes the Morehead area will have a new school in a couple of years.

Russ Ward believes the Kentucky General Assembly will sign-off on the State Community and Technical College’s 145-million dollar “Build Smart” program for capital projects on all the KCTCS campuses.

When that happens, Ward says, it’ll make possible the construction of a 28-million dollar facility in Rowan County. He says 21-million will be generated through a student fee and the rest will have to be raised privately.

Ward says the MCTC’s Rowan Campus was built to offer programs for about 300 students. However, he says, enrollment today is close to 1,200.
