The Kentucky Department of Highways will close part of KY 503 in Greenup County the week of August 10 to replace a damaged bridge.
The steel beams and concrete foundation of a culvert-style bridge that spans Uhlens Run just south of Yates Road (milepoint 7.89) have deteriorated and must be replaced.
Beginning Monday morning, Aug. 10, crews will close KY 503 at the bridge – about a mile from the US 23 intersection – and remove the old structure. Crews will then install a new aluminum box culvert Tuesday through Friday, Aug. 14. The highway will remain closed until work is complete Friday.
All through traffic should detour using US 23, the Industrial Parkway (KY 67), and KY 207, or other routes, during construction.
In the event of inclement weather, motorists should be prepared for work and traffic detours to continue into the week of August 17.
