Morehead State University

Morehead State University's Division of Academic Affairs has announced that Megan Boone has been named director of the Office of Career Services.

"Megan has proven that she is a strong and creative campus leader who is very student-focused," said Dr. Laurie Couch, associate provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Success. "She will be an excellent partner in our continuing efforts to provide outstanding career support to students in our academic programs, our alumni, and those in the community."

She previously worked in career services at the University of Kentucky and Sullivan University. Boone joined MSU in 2010 in a career counselor/employer relations role and was named interim director of the Office of Career Services in 2018. As acting director, she built a peer coaching program, as well as developing and incorporating a career development module into the First Year Seminar.

Boone has a master's degree in industrial organizational psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Transylvania University.

She is active in the local community serving on the board of the Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce and previously served on the Community Advisory Board for Morehead State Public Radio. She is a member of professional associations in the field and is a past president of the Kentucky Association of Colleges and Employers (KACE) and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and Kentucky Career Development Association (KCDA).

Boone resides in Rowan County with her husband and two children.

"I am honored to be part of a talented team that works to provide Morehead State University students with the necessary skills, networks and opportunities to launch their careers," Boone said. "I look forward to collaborating across campus to build a model that integrates career competencies and high impact practices ensuring the success of our graduates."

MSU's Office of Career Services helps students be career ready. Staff work with students to craft a resume, practice interviewing and apply to graduate school. Services include assisting students in choosing a major and establish career goals using personality, interest and values inventories, gain relevant experience through internships and dress professionally with the suit bank.

One of the major events for Career Services is the Fall Career and Internship Fair, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC).
