Adkins files

Kentucky Legislative Research Commission

A Democratic lawmaker will officially file paperwork to run for governor today.

House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins announced his intention to run for Kentucky’s top seat at an event in Morehead back in November.

Adkins, who has to date raised more than $600-thousand dollars in donations, says he has been pleased with fundraising and statewide support so far.

Adkins says he plans to campaign on his support of public education and public employees.

So far, Democrats Andy Beshear and Geoff Young and Republicans Robert Goforth and William Woods have officially filed to run for the governor’s seat.   Governor Matt Bevin has said he will run for re-election but has yet to file.
