Abramson Rules Out Governor Post

Kentucky's Lieutenent Governor is taking a pass on the 2015 governor's race. Speaking Tuesday (August 6) in Elizabethtown, Jerry Abramson said he will focus on education issues during his remaining time in Frankfort. Abramson has been on the short-list of potential Democratic gubernatorial candidates, but he said he is no longer interested in running for public office.

"You don't need to be an elected official to be a public servant. I see myself really getting involved in public service by advocating for kids, by speaking out, by meeting with parents."  --Jerry Abramson

Abramson told reporters he wants to be an "education warrior", but declined any interest in being state education commissioner, university president, or school superintendent. With Abramson off the list of possible candidates for governor,Kentucky Democrats will likely focus much of their attention on Attorney General Jack Conway, Auditor Adam Edelen, and former Auditor Crit Luallen.
