7th Inning Rally Lifts Eagle Softball Past Loyola

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State softball team scored three runs in the top of the seventh and held on for a 4-3 victory over Loyola-Chicago in the final game of the Blues City Classic on Sunday (Feb. 23) at Greenbrook Softball Complex.

The Eagles (2-8), who had just four hits, got RBI from freshman first baseman Dana Hutchins and senior shortstop Samantha Howard. MSU's other runs that were set up by six stolen bases came via Loyola (4-9) wild pitches.

Loyola scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Freshman pitcher Megan Tymorek allowed six hits, but allowed just two through 6.1 innings. Junior Tanna Seuferer recorded her first save of the season by striking out the first hitter she faced and inducing a groundout to end the game.

MSU returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 27) for a road doubleheader, which was recently added to the schedule, at Presbyterian. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
