With fall quickly approaching, there’s no better time to see what Morehead and neighboring areas have to offer. We’ve compiled a list of fall-fun activities that will help get anyone into the fall spirit.
August 19- October 31: Gloria Sue Cookies’ Fall Menu
Locally owned by Morehead State University student Gloria Rogers, Gloria Sue Cookies’ has a fall menu filled with new fall flavors for the season. Flavors like pumpkin chocolate chip, cinnamon spice, caramel apple and candy corn, are sure to give anyone the perfect taste of fall. A baker’s dozen is $12. September 22-October 30: Two Sisters Pumpkin Patch 20th Season
The Two Sisters Pumpkin Patch, located in Mt. Sterling, is a must for anyone looking to visit a pumpkin patch. Located on the property is an eight-acre corn maze, pumpkin barn and animal barn, which are free of charge to walk through. Weekly activities include pumpkin picking, tractor hay rides, pumpkin painting and barrel train rides. Prices for weekly activities range from four to seven dollars. The pumpkin patch will be open every Monday through Saturday during the season from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
September 28 & 29: 20th Annual Cave Run Storytelling Festival
Located at the Twin Knobs Recreation Area along Cave Run Lake, this festival is fun for the whole family. This year’s event will include both national and internationally known tellers such as Regi Carpenter, Kevin Kling, Bil Lepp, Barbara McBride-Smith, Clare Muireann Murphy, Bobby Norfolk and Don White. The featured ghost storyteller on Saturday evening will be Mary Hamilton. Ticket prices can be found and purchased on their website at: http://caverunstoryfest.org
September 30: Browning Orchard Festival
The Morehead State Department of Agricultural Sciences’ annual festival is coming up! Located at MSU’s own Browning Orchard in Flemingsburg, the festival will include musical entertainment by the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music, hayrides, pony rides, kids hay-maze, pig roast and concessions. Their store will be selling apples, mums, cider, pumpkins and more. The festival will be held from noon until 4 p.m.
October 5- 27: Haunted Corn Maze & Zombie Paintball Hayride hosted by The Ole Cornfield
Usually known for Cave Run Lake kayaking, The Ole Cornfield will open up a Haunted Corn Maze and Zombie Paintball Hayrides in Salt Lick for the Halloween season. This is a yearly favorite among locals who seek a spooky thrill during the fall. The attractions will open up every Friday and Saturday night from dark until midnight. Tickets are $15 for each attraction, or $25 for both.
