Ground has been broken on Park View Apartments in Morehead

Braeden Trent

Officials from several organizations and members of the community gathered Friday afternoon to celebrate a groundbreaking. 40 new multi-family rental housing units are being developed next to the Morehead City Park by Frontier Housing.

Park View Apartments are a collaboration of many partners and sponsors including the Kentucky Housing Corporation, Marble Cliff Capital, Hope of the Midwest, and more. Tom Manning-Beavin is the President and CEO of Frontier Housing. He said the units will provide more options to Morehead’s families and make paths for similar developments in the future.

“So, this is really only our second multifamily new build and the first one in 15 years, going on 20 years. So, we’re building capacity inside the organization, and then we’re also making it more possible to have different options so that there’s a wider diversity of really quality housing,” said Manning-Beavin.

The energy-efficient housing will have one-, two-, and three-bedroom options. Presenters at the groundbreaking spoke about the location of the project, and the many amenities it offers to families and children.

Manning-Beavin said the units should begin to house families in the early months of 2026.

“We’re working on a few last elements of the design, to then get the notice to proceed from the Kentucky Housing Corporation. We should be done with construction within 18 months. As construction moves towards completion, we’ll be qualifying tenants and lining them up to be ready to move in,” said Manning-Beavin.

Manning-Beavin said the units will address Morehead’s housing shortage, especially for low-income families. He added that tenants can also be provided with homeownership opportunities in the future.
