For the first time, people in and around Rowan County will have the opportunity to attend a hunting and fishing expo in Morehead.
Travis Jolley is owner and operator of Triplett Creek Archery, one of the co-hosts of the event. Jolley said the expo will have a variety of vendors selling goods and giving advice to newcomers and expert hunters.
“Most of the vendors, as myself, we have all hunted and fished, and we're wide open to questions. It won’t just be sales, we want to talk to people, we want to interact with people that may be interested. There will be a wealth of knowledge there for all outdoor activities,” Jolley said.
The outdoorsman added that Rowan and surrounding counties have great access to hunting and fishing with Cave Run Lake and the Daniel Boone National Forest. He said the expo will highlight those opportunities for everyone who attends.
"It’s just a good avenue for a lot of local people, and in the surrounding areas, to come and show what they have, what they can do, and help people, involve people,” Jolley said.
Jolley said the main thing is for attendees to have fun when they come.
“Plenty of fish stories and hunting stories, it’ll be just a good hangout for everyone, besides looking at and speaking to vendors, and checking everything out,” Jolley said.
Admission to the hunting and fishing expo is free. The event will be held at the Carl Perkins Center on October 7, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
