An Open Letter from MSU Director of Athletics

Morehead State University

Eagle Family

This past week has altered our communities in ways never before experienced. We have transitioned from the security of our routines to uncertainty of what the upcoming days will bring. The NCAA's decision to cancel the postseason for all sports has brought forward a range of emotions to our coaches and athletes. I share their pain, frustration, and sorrow because I see the dedication and commitment they invest in their passion daily.

Today the OVC announced the cancelation of all intercollegiate competitions, including OVC Championships, through the end of the 2019-20 academic year due to the COVID-19 public health threat. Additionally, all team practices will be suspended until April 3, 2020, at which time the impact of the suspension will be re-evaluated.

These decisions generate more questions than we currently have answers. Our administration, coaches, and staff are committed to making sure that we are working hard for the best interests of our student-athletes with our primary concern being the health and wellbeing of our athletic family and community.

We will do everything we can to keep our extended family updated and informed.

Gandhi shared, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

To our community, I ask all of you to be an example of what composure, compassion, and responsibility look like during these times of hardship. Please stay safe and take care of each other.

Most Sincerely,

Jaime Gordon
Director of Athletics
