Volleyballers Head to Evansville for Weekend Series With New OVC Foe Southern Indiana

Morehead State volleyball is set to head to Evansville, Ind., for a weekend series at new Ohio Valley Conference foe Southern Indiana. It will mark the first meetings between the two programs since 1988.

Morehead State is currently in fourth place in the league race at 7-5, while the USI Screaming Eagles have found the going tough in their first Division I season at 1-21. The lone win was against Lindenwood.

SERIES RECORD
MSU leads the series 2-0 | The programs met in 1983 and 1988 with MSU winning 3-0 in '83 and 3-1 in '88. Both meetings were in Evansville.

NOTABLE
- Senior setter Bridget Bessler has a team-best 11 double-doubles in 2022 and now 35 in her career. Bessler has an assist-dig double-double in seven of the last eight matches this season.

- Bessler enters the weekend with 3,803 career assists, good enough for third place in career history for Morehead State. She leads the OVC in assists per set and has ranked in the league's top two in assists all four seasons she's played. Bessler is a three-time First-Team All-Conference award winner.

- Middle blocker Irene Wogenstahl has 54 kills and just seven errors in her last four matches. That's an incredible .456 attack efficiency in that span.

- Wogenstahl also has a streak of 13 consecutive matches with at least 2+ blocks. She had 17 blocks just in the last three matches.

- Kinsey McAfee has seen her playing time increase lately. In the last two matches, she has 15 kills after recording just 14 in the season's first 22 matches.

- With 357 wins to his MSU coaching resume, head coach and Director of Athletics as well Dr. Jaime Gordon is the winningest head coach in any sport in Morehead State's athletic history.
