Swift Scores Twice, Defense Stonewalls Little Rock in Sunday Shutout

The Morehead State soccer team kept on rolling in OVC play Sunday, as Chris Fox's squad remained undefeated in the conference with a 2-0 victory over Little Rock.

Colleen Swift scored twice in the win, once in the seventh minute on a beautiful assist from Madelyn Mozeleski (90 minutes, 1 AST). After the win, Mozeleski explained what she saw on her assist to Swift in detail.

"I was given the ball and was able to drive forward. We talked about breaking lines, and I hit a long ball over the top to Jelly (Colleen Swift) who was making a great run, and she finished it today."

The Eagles expanded on their lead late in the second half as Swift scored again after Little Rock goalkeeper Paige Henry was caught out of position, leaving an open goal for MSU to put the final nail in the Trojans' coffin.

Along with Mozeleski, Avery Redmon played all 90 minutes for the fourth straight game, aiding Morehead State goalkeeper Erin Gibbs (8 saves, Shutout (3)) in MSU's fifth shutout of the season. Redmon leads the team in minutes, and has been an unsung hero the Eagles all year long.

After the game, the Louisville native credited the team's adjustments to Little Rock's press in the second half to completing the shutout. "In the first half, they were scared to press," said Redmon. "Centerbacks did a good job of switching the point and finding me. We all were able to find the spare player… in the second half they switched their press and made things difficult in the back, but our centerbacks and goalie Erin Gibbs solved it and allowed us to get forward."

Morehead State gets some well-deserved rest this week before traveling to Cape Girardeau, MO., to face OVC rival SEMO this Sunday.
