Morehead State Beach Volleyball saw results at the opposite end of the spectrum Tuesday in North Carolina. The Eagles defeated host Catawba 5-0 before succumbing 5-0 to North Carolina Wilmington.
The Eagles (5-7) swept the host Lady Indians with five two-set winners. No. 1 pair Olivia Lohmeier and Allison Whitten shut down their foes 21-8, 21-9. On court two, Bella Williams and Olivia Montelisciani allowed only 12 and 13 points, respectively, to win 2-0. At No. 3, Anya Reinhard and Trinity Miller got themselves back in the win column after falling in eight straight, winning 21-8 twice.
Abby Hulsman teamed with Margaret Musselman to win in straight sets at No. 4, and Raegan Alexander paired with Irene Wogenstahl for a 21-16, 21-11 triumph. The extra flight saw Andrea Grimes and Kinsey McAfee secure a 21-16, 21-14 victory.
Against a tough Seahawk squad, the Eagles went down in straight sets in four of the five matches. Lohmeier and Whitten were able to fight their flight to a deciding third frame but ultimately fell 21-13, 14-21, 12-15.
The team returns home to host the first of two events at Fazoli's Breadstick Beach Friday. Louisville will come to town for two matches beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
