McConnell Introduces Protection Act

            U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell introduced the Protecting Moms and Infants Act on the Senate floor on Thursday.

            The act would put additional measures in place in order to reduce the number of opioid-dependent infants born.

            McMonnell sponsored the bi-partisan Protecting Our Infants Act in 2015, but says it’s now time to build on that success to better protect the most vulnerable among us…

           

         

            According to the CDC, cases of neonatal abstinence syndrome increased approximately 400% nationally from 2000-2012, from about 1 out of every 1000 babies born in hospital, to 6 out of 1000, and in some places higher than 30 out of every 1000.
