Officials with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services hope residents will prepare for the unwinding of expanded Medicaid.

As part of COVID-19 relief legislation, the federal government provided increased Medicaid funding to states to help with increased costs.  The public health emergency kept about 187-thousand Kentuckians from losing their Medicaid coverage.

CHFS Secretary Eric Friedlander says the federal government will give states 60-days’ notice before the emergency ends, and the cabinet will begin the normal process of reviewing enrollees’ eligibility for Medicaid.

Although the health emergency has not yet ended, Friedlander says Kentuckians can get their accounts in order online.  The self-service portal for renewal is available at https://kynect.ky.gov.
