Poll Shows Republican Race For Governor Will Be Close

The latest Bluegrass Poll shows the GOP primary race for governor will be tight and with less than a week before the election there is a three way tie.

The poll, conducted for The Lexington Herald Leader, WKYT-TV and two news outlets in Louisville shows Louisville businessman Matt Bevin, Agriculture Commissioner James Comer and former Louisville councilman Hal Heiner are effectively even among likely-Republican voters.

The poll was being done as Comer was defending allegations that he abused a former College girlfriend and Heiner faced claims that his camp pushed the story just two weeks before elections.  The numbers show both are still in the hunt for the republican nod with Comer taking 26 percent of the vote, Heiner at 25 percent and Bevin with 27 percent.  Will T. Scott trails with 8 percent of likely party voters choosing him next Tuesday.  14 percent remain undecided.
