Wilson Nets Two Goals in 3-2 loss to Kent State

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State soccer team erased a 2-0 halftime deficit but ultimately fell 3-2 to Kent State on Friday evening at Dix Stadium.

After conceding two goals to the Golden Flashes in the first 45 minutes of play, senior forward Dani Wilson found the back of the net in the 57th and 64th minutes to pull the game back to even at 2-2.

For Wilson, it was her first time scoring twice in a game since picking up two goals as a freshman to help propel Morehead State to a 2-1 win in overtime against Bowling Green on August 28, 2015.

Kent State went on to net the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute and hold on for the final eight minutes to seal the win.

"We put ourselves in a hole in the first half but came out ready to play in the second and scored two goals and played well," said head coach Warren Lipka. "We expended a lot of energy in the comeback and gave up the late goal."

Despite being outshot by the Golden Flashes 21-7, the Eagles were able to score a goal for the first time since an 82nd-minute header goal by redshirt-sophomore midfielder Katie Quinn forced overtime in an eventual 2-1 loss to Kentucky on August 23.

Morehead State is now 1-6 and will next faceoff with Duquesne at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN + and fans can follow @msueagleslive on Twitter for in-game updates.
