Morehead State Public Radiohas announced the addition of a Spanish music program to its lineup.

Sin Fronteras - Spanish for “no borders” - is a new program to be featured on WMKY (90.3 FM). Locally hosted by Maria Arroyo, the program will make its debut Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m.

The program will be presented in both Spanish and English as an educational and informative learning tool.

“We should embrace opportunities to learn from other cultures,” said Paul Hitchcock, MSPR general manager. “This program will highlight the rich Latin American culture in a way that’s entertaining for all to enjoy.”

Sin Fronteras will explore the history and culture of the Latin American community through stories and music. The program will feature contemporary and traditional music from Latin America, along with stories about everyday life in the Spanish-speaking community.

Host of the program is Maria Arroyo, a native of Huancayo, Peru, and Instructor of Spanish at Morehead State. Arriving in the United States in 2004, Arroyo completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and French and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching with an emphasis in Spanish from MSU.

“My passion is teaching and I’m grateful for opportunities to share my love for languages,” said Arroyo. “My desire is for everyone to enjoy learning the Spanish language and the cultures that represent this beautiful language.”
