Seward Scores 1,000th Point; Women's Basketball Ties Scoring Record in Win Over ALC

MSU Athletics

Senior guard Darianne Seward eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career and the Morehead State women's basketball team scored a school-record tying 121 points in a 121-56 victory over Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Tuesday morning at Johnson Arena.

The Eagles hit on 49-of-86 (.570) shots and led by as many as 70 points in the triumph over Alice Lloyd. Morehead State also produced six double figure scorers in the game with Aliyah Jeune dropping in a career-high 30 points to lead all scorers.

Morehead State's 121 points is tied for most in program history with the 121 scored in a win over Kentucky Christian on November 15, 2015. The Eagles did claim two-school records in the game as their 71-point first half goes as the most ever in a half and first half. The 65-point win is also the third-largest margin of victory over an opponent in program history.

Seward, who began her colligate career at Detroit Mercy where scored 355 points as a freshman, came into the day with 997 total-career points before passing the 1,000-point milestone with a layup at the 9:14 mark of the second quarter. Seward finished the game with a double-double as she scored 10 points and dished out 12 assists.

"Darianne is one of the hardest workers on our team," said head coach Greg Todd. "She is very competitive and has helped so much in our success of building up this program to where we are right."

The game was played in front of 1,224 fans, with over 500 students in attendance from area primary & secondary schools as a part of the Education Day promotion.

Morehead State will enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday off before returning to the hardwood at Johnson Arena on Monday. The Eagles welcome Kentucky Christian for a matchup that will tip off at 6:05 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ESPN + and broadcast on 96.3 WIVY.
