Retired Morehead State University Administer Jerry Gore Passes Away

Retired Morehead State University administer Jerry Gore of Maysville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3.

He was the son of the late Hattie Wormley Gore Dunlap and the late Wilbert Dunlap and the late Austin Richard Gore Sr.

Gore held two master's degrees from MSU. He retired from MSU after 27 years in administration. He was the co-founder and CEO of Freedom Time Tours and conducted hundreds of tours on the Underground Railroad with Freedom Time Tours President Peggy Overly. He was nationally known for his tours and storytelling. He was famous for teaching children how to "ham bone."

He is surviced by three sisters, Nancy Dudley of Cincinnati, Wilma Johnson of Louisville and Alice Dunlap of Maysville; four brothers, Austin Gore Jr. and Ralph Dunlap of Maysville, David Dunlap of Rancho Cordona, Calif., and Wilber Dunlap of Hutto, Texas; a special friend, Peggy Overly; and two "grandchildren," Quiera and Antonio Chambers.

Services will be Monday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Maysville Community and Technical College Fields Auditorium.

Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium.
