MSU To Revisit Policy On Retirement Credit For Unused Sick Days

Morehead State University

Morehead State University is doing an about-face regarding its policy to take away sick leave credit for those retiring after June 30th.

For the last several years, MSU has been averaging-in up to six months of an employee’s unused sick days to the top three years of that person’s salary when the state computes their annual retirement payment.  However, due to budget concerns, school officials earlier this year decided to stop that practice at the end of June.

Morehead State President Jay Morgan says Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear’s lawsuit over the legislature’s pension reform plan caused the university to pause that action…

Morgan says MSU will revisit the matter once the courts make a decision on Beshear’s suit. He notes that the school spends $350,000 per year on employee sick leave retirement credits.
