MSU Family Weekend is Sept. 14-16

Morehead State University

MSU students and their families will have a chance to take part in a wide range of fun activities and events during Family Weekend, Sept. 14-16.

The annual event is a time for the parents, grandparents, siblings and friends of MSU students to visit campus and get a taste of what life is like on campus. Activities scheduled for Family Weekend include sporting events, educational and entertainment programming, fun group activities and more.

Events kick off on Friday when families will have a chance to tackle the Adventure Course at the Recreation and Wellness Center from 4 to 7 p.m. The Eagle Soccer team will take on Eastern Illinois at 6 p.m. at Jayne Stadium, and the Star Theater will present a trio of planetarium programs starting at 6 p.m.

Comedians Keith McGill and Lee Hardin and magician Matthew David Stanley will perform at Button Auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m. During the show, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) will be accepting donations of non-perishable food, toiletries and school supplies for the Eagle Essentials Pantry, which provides essential items to any student who needs them.

Saturday's events offer the opportunity for students and families to explore the community beyond campus with Morehead's Eighth Annual Arts and Eats Festival beginning at 11 a.m. on Main Street. Restaurants, food trucks, businesses and community organizations from across Rowan County will offer a variety of food items at the event, and the region's artisans will offer arts, crafts, jewelry, home décor items and more.

Before the Eagle Football team faces Austin Peay at 6 p.m., come to the Johnson Arena/Jayne Stadium parking lot for the Eagle Family Picnic and family fun activities beginning at 3:30 p.m. There will be free food, activities, a Kid Zone, giveaways and door prizes. The Class of 2022 will lead the Eagles onto the field with the Freshman Run at 5:30 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, students and their families will have the chance to explore some of MSU's premiere attractions, including the Space Science Center, Star Theater, the Kentucky Folk Art Center, the Golding-Yang Art Gallery and the University Store.
