Lawson Page selected as PFL Offensive Player of the Week

MSU Athletics

Following a near flawless debut as Morehead State's starting quarterback, junior Lawson Page has been selected as the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week.

Page completed 21-of-23 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns in the Eagles' season-opening 56-14 win over Kentucky Christian Thursday.

In the first half alone, he completed all 14 of his passes for 169 yards and two scores. He was true on his first 15 passes, and his only misfires were a dropped screen pass and an interception in the back corner of the end zone.

Page also rushed seven times for 49 yards, accounting for 333 yards of total offense. He helped engineer an Eagle offense that generated 625 yards and 35 first downs as MSU averaged 7.4 yards per play. Page's quarterback rating finished at 243.7 as he had a 91 percent completion percentage.

Page, from Shelbyville, Ky., led the Eagles with seven rushing touchdowns as a sophomore in 2016 when he was the third-and-fourth down situational signal caller. He came to MSU after leading Martha Layne Collins High School to a state title in 2013 and passing for 7,772 yards and 98 touchdowns in high school.
