Morehead’s Kentucky State Police Post 8 is gearing-up to host its fifth annual Citizens Police Academy.
KSP Trooper Joe Veeneman says the eleven week program is designed to give members of the community an inside look at the day-to-day operations of the Kentucky State Police.
“A lot of the crimes that we solve is from the help from the community, you know, from things that they’re able to observe, as far as crimes being committed. It’s kind of a chance to, if there are any walls up between us and the community to try to tear through those walls a little bit so that we can have open communication with the community as well and they can have open communication with us.” –Joe Veeneman
Among the topics the academy will cover are patrols and traffic stops, along with accident and criminal investigations. The program will begin on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Classes will be held at the Martha Caudill-Stacy Building in West Liberty.
