In a statement released today, Kentucky Treasurer Allison Ball has announced her support for Governor Bevin’s budget proposal.
"As the State Treasurer, my office knows more than most about the importance of fiscal responsibility,” Treasurer Ball said. “I believe the Governor’s proposal is fair and it addresses the very real budgetary issues the Commonwealth is facing.”
Earlier this week, Treasurer Ball appeared in front of the House Budget Review Subcommittee on General Government, Finance and Public Protection and discussed the Treasury’s budget.
"We are making sure to cut costs where we can. We agree with the Governor that things need to be cut; we are fully committed to providing essential services that come out of my office,” added Ball.
As Treasurer Ball made the case for the budget for the Treasury, she remained committed to delivering on the core government functions that the State Treasurer’s Office is responsible for: issuing checks, collecting and returning unclaimed property, serving as the state contact for the IRS, and much more.
Ball said in a later statement: "We support what the Governor is doing and we will do our part to show the importance of fiscal responsibility and living within budgetary constraints from the general fund."
