Kentucky State Police Cruisers Aging

Kentucky State Police cars now patrolling the Commonwealth’s roadways are aging rapidly and there’s no money to replace them…That’s what KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer told state lawmakers in Frankfort Thursday.

He testified before the Interim Joint Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection…

"Over 50% of the cars that you see out on the road, the mark cruisers that we have...that are operational people, not the administrative people like me...we are driving the hand-me-downs, and that's ok. But even doing that today, over 50% of our cars, in an operational setting are over 100, 000 miles." - Rodney Brewer

Brewer says the KSP is facing a budget shortfall of nearly 6 million dollars because of rising gas prices and increased retirement costs.
