Jones and Rokey record double-digit kills as Volleyball concludes the West Virginia Classic

Senior right-side hitter Jordan Jones smashed a season-high 17 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Lauren Rokey added 15 kills as Morehead State volleyball drops their West Virginia Classic finale against Wake Forest.

The Eagles (9-4) captured set one from the Demon Deacons (5-6) 25-16 before Wake Forest outlasted Morehead State in three close sets, 25-27, 24-26, and 23-25. The Eagles forced extra points in both the second and third set before ultimately dropping the sets.

After registering 14 kills in last night's match with West Virginia, Jones stayed hot this afternoon with 17 kills, totaling 38 kills on the weekend, earning her West Virginia Classic All-Tournament team honors. Rokey's 15 total kills ran her weekend total to 39 kills. As a team, Morehead State hit .246, throwing down 55 kills in 130 chances.

Freshman libero Allison Whitten paced an Eagles' unit that recorded 40 digs, registering 11 to give Whitten her 10th game this season with double-digit digs. Redshirt junior Danielle McCarson added 10 digs to give the Eagles a pair of players with 10 or more digs in the match.

Redshirt sophomore Chandler Clark dished out 41 assists, exceeding the 40 plus assist plateau for the fourth time this season. Clark's total came on 55 kills, as she's now totaled 480 assists on the season.

Morehead State returns home on Friday to begin a three-game home stand to open Ohio Valley Conference play. The Eagles welcome in Jacksonville State on Friday, before hosting Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Match times are set for 7 p.m. ET and 2 p.m.
