Jeune Awarded OVC Newcomer of the Week

MSU Athletics

For the second time of the 2018-19 season, Morehead State women's basketball junior guard Aliyah Jeune has been tabbed as the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

Jeune, who won both OVC Player and Newcomer of the Week to open the season, came off the bench and dropped a career-high 30 points on 13-of-20 shooting against Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on November, 20. The 6-foot-1 guard also was a dead eye from deep, sinking four three-point shots.

"I feel like Aliyah is continuing to get better for our team," said Morehead State head coach Greg Todd. "She has been doing a great job of working on getting to the basket and continues to improve defensively. Aliyah is helping our team be more productive and is a big factor for our team."

Jeune is currently averaging 20.2 points per game and has scored 28 or more points in three-of-six games played.

The Westhampton, N.J., native sat out last season after transferring to Morehead State from Rutgers. Jeune was a five-star recruit following her standout prep career at New Jersey's Life Center Academy.

Jeune began her new week with a 20-point outing in a win over Kentucky Christian on Monday evening.

The Eagles next test comes in the form of No. 25 Kentucky. Morehead State and the Wildcats will tip off at 12:00 p.m. ET at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
