Gateway Children’s Advocacy Center to host Phone-A-Thon Aug. 28

Gateway Children’s Advocacy Center

On Aug. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. employees and board members of the Gateway Children’s Advocacy Center will be hosting a Phone-A-Thon for their Change for Children Capital Campaign.

It will take place at the Rowan County Fiscal Court Room at 600 West Main St., Morehead but those wanting to donate can also call (606) 315- 6523 or give on their PayPal account (gatewaycac2@gmail.com).

The event invites community members to stop by, donate, make phone calls to friends and relatives, then take a photo so they can be publicly thanked on social media and other locations.

“We appreciate everything that the communities we serve continually do for the center- this is another way for us to see them and say thank you,” said GCAC director, Diane Rodgers. “Change for Children is a push to raise money for our HVAC units and windows that are outdated. Everything we do is to ensure a comfortable experience for the children that need us.”

The Mission of the GCAC is to coordinate services to child sexual and physical abuse as well as human trafficking victims in the Gateway area in a safe and nurturing environment where trauma is lessened and healing is enhanced.

“This campaign shows that much can be done with little. We are not asking for large donations but instead want people to see how a penny, quarter, and dollar or two can do such meaningful work,” said GCAC board member, Shayla Ring. “The GCAC serves five counties and unfortunately stays busy. The communities they serve need to stand together and support not only them, but the children that walk through their doors every day.”

The GCAC serves Bath, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, and Rowan Counties.

For more information on the campaign or the center call 784- 7848 or visit their website at: http://www.gatewaycac.com
