Baseball Set to Host Alumni Weekend

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State baseball program is holding an alumni weekend in conjunction with MSU's Homecoming Week. The events will take place Saturday and Sunday.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be recognition of the 1983 Ohio Valley Conference Championship team at the MSU football game versus Campbell, which kicks off at 1 p.m. That team, coached by the late Steve Hamilton, won the OVC North Division Title, overall OVC Title and advanced to an NCAA Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., where the Eagles won two games.

On Saturday, the current team will play an intra-squad scrimmage at 9 a.m. Alumni can check in at Allen Field from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and the team will host tailgating prior to football. Food will be provided. An alumni contest will take place after the football game.

"I'm very excited about the response we've gotten, and it sounds like we are going to have a great turnout," Head Coach Mike McGuire said. "Several members of our 1983 team will be in attendance and will be honored."

On Sunday, alums have the option of a golf outing at Eagle Trace Golf Course.

"It's a great opportunity for my current team to see the pride and passion the alums have for Morehead State baseball," McGuire said.

Morehead State has won 22 OVC divisional, overall or tournament titles since 1948.
